About Me

What do you collect and what is your goal?

PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP, PS Vita, Xbox, Xbox360, XboxOne, NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, WiiU, Switch, GB, GBC, GBA, NDS, 3DS, Master System, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast; My goal is to own every game and system on my wishlist and set up the game room I've always dreamed of.

When did you start collecting?

Officially, when I was 3 years old because my mother bought us a Playstation. But I started semi-seriously collecting in 2014 and fully in 2018.

How did you get the idea to collect video games/consoles?

Youtube. I somehow came across MetalJesus' channel while looking up a game. I always thought I had to limit my collection because of my situation living at home. After I realized that I'm an adult and can buy what I like and be on my own one day, I decided to make multiple wishlists on Amazon and started watching collection videos and looking up releases for games. Now, after finding more collectors, I'm hooked.

As for consoles, it started small. I wanted to own a Japanese PS2 and wanted to see what colors it came in. Found this site, started looking at different colored PS2 consoles for my region instead, and then shook myself out of it. "Why would I need more than one if I'm not even going to use it? I have a working PS2..." Then I saw the different colored PSPs...And now I want to collect console variations. Dying to get my hands on that FFXIII-2 Lightning PS3.

What's your favorite item in your collection and why?

Nintendo Game Boy Micro 20th Anniversary Console [JP]. My long-distance gf plays games, but she usually sells her stuff to be able to buy the next new thing. One of the few things she kept growing up was her GBMicro, and I'd expressed wanting to get my own one day (even if I eventually mod my original GBA). She took it upon herself to gift hers to me for our first Christmas in person together. It meant so much to me, and I'm proud to have it in my collection now.

What is your most memorable collecting story/experience?

My dad always bragged about being an amazing bidder on Ebay. I would roll my eyes and ignore him while he checked his phone and won old computer parts to fix up PCs for my brothers to use.

One day, I challenged him to find Haunting Ground, the Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii, PaRappa the Rapper, and Digimon World 1 & 3. At the time, all of them were ridiculously expensive (to me, at least, especially all together), so I set a limit to how much he could spend. Shockingly, he walked in my room a week later with an arm full of games and showed that he stayed well under the limit. I was floored.

I'm kinda wanting to redo that challenge and see if he can find Rule of Rose, Kuon, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Steel Battalion, and Solatorobo.
