About Me

What do you collect and what is your goal?

I collect older and newer games of all sort, from the retro 1970s era to nowadays high-tech machines.
My goal really seems endless: as a fan of racing games and just great games in general, my eternal goal is to get most of them, as well as to get all consoles that I got an interest in and that aren’t completely impossible to get. Still a long way to go…

When did you start collecting?

In February-March 2017, when my passion for retrogaming really started and when I bought my 1st retro console: my Gamecube. Before that, I already had a Game&Watch, but it's my dad who gave it to me and I wasn't much into retrogaming at that time, so I didn't consider the Game&Watch as a part of my collection until my passion for retrogaming really started to grow on me.

How did you get the idea to collect video games/consoles?

It was in 2017 and I was 12 years old. My best friend was a somewhat collector of older consoles and games. He had a PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, SNES and I think that was about it. He had no interest in growing his collection further, but he had an interest in retrogaming in general. I went to his house from time to time and I was absolutely stunned every time time I went there. We would play Forza Horizon 2, COD Zombies and GTA Online, and I fell in love with these games that I couldn’t play at home. At school, he also talked to me a lot about video games, consoles and video game stores he went to and I think that's what got my into retrogaming. My 1st retro console that I bought was a Gamecube. I absolutely loved this thing and it made me want to grow my own big collection.

What's your favorite item in your collection and why?

I’d say my GameCube, only for memories and nostalgia alone. As my 1st retro console I bought back when I was a kid, it still has a very high sentimental value to me. Otherwise, I’d say my Game Boy Light, as it never released in North America and I imported it from Japan, it probably makes it the rarest and coolest console I own.

What is your most memorable collecting story/experience?

At the time, in 2017, I was in a big retrogaming mood and I was reading a book at school about retrogaming and the Gamecube was in it. I don't know why, but I fell in love with the Gamecube and I really wanted one. So I went to a retrogaming store near where I live, I had like $40 in my pockets and I entered the store with the intention of buying a Gamecube, but they were $50... Sad, I returned back home, still dreaming of my Gamecube. My grandparents saw that I was sad and they decided to give me the remaining money to buy my Gamecube. So happy, I returned to the store a couple days later, on March 30th 2017 (I still remember the date like it was yesterday) and finally bought my grey Gamecube that I still have to this day.
