How did you get the idea to collect video games/consoles?

I was saving up for the Steam Deck. However, after a few unexpected bills, it became clear I would not have enough money for it in time for my reservation. Feeling sour, I wanted to treat myself with a PS Vita. However, I picked up a PSP since the library appealed to me better.
