  • The original launch model of the PS3, featuring full hardware-based backwards compatibility with PS2 discs.
  • This model is also identifiable as CECHA, followed by a country code of 00 for Japan, 01 for North America, 07 for Taiwan, and 12 for Hong Kong.
  • This 60GB PS3 is the higher priced of the two available configurations at launch (20GB/$499, 60GB/$599).
  • This specific console launched in November 2006, first for the Japanese market, followed the next week by North America/Hong Kong/Taiwan, and was not released officially outside of those territories.

Hi, I'd like to point out that the CECHA and CECHB models are not the same as the CECHC shown in the photo. Internally, they don't have the same original PS2 chip. I believe there are actually fewer than 1 million CECHA and CECHB units...
