  • The Xperia Play is a smartphone with elements of a handheld game console produced by Sony Ericsson

  • Essentially it is a PSP Go integrated into a Smartphone although it is important to note that it runs on Android rather than being an actual console

  • Known as the SO-01D In Japan and sold exclusively by NTT Docomo.

  • Device was available at launch in Black, White and Red

  • The Xperia Play runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread

  • NOTE due to the servers for the device being shut down you are unable to download official titles Distributed by Sony for the phone, although still possible to play thanks to PS1 emulation.

"Essentially it is a PSP Go integrated into a Smartphone although it is important to note that it runs on Android rather than being an actual console" This is totally not true, the internal hardware is completely different. The PSP Go has a MIPS CPU and Sony GPU, the Xperia Play uses an Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 (armv7) with an adreno GPU. Apart from formfactor, the PSP go is a lot more similar to a ps1 and ps2 than to the Xperia Play. The bottom line is that it should have it's own section.
