    SNES demo carts from kiosks

Good day: I was just wondering if anybody on here knows where in the world they may have a Super Nintendo game that is a demo cart? I’m looking for smw in particular, haven’t found that anywhere on eBay or in local stores of Canada. I know they’re very old, and were used in kiosks to show to the public.

I did, but I don't think any of us including you would want to pay the price for it, as it's a collection of the demo cartridges as a whole: https://www.ebay.com/itm/155372658801

17k USD, and no ability to individually order it is a huge let-down and deal breaker.

A question about what qualifies as an Atari XEGS accessory

So essentially, the back of the Atari XEGS Console  features a peripheral port, which is notable because of the fact that it is basically the same port for all of the Atari 8-bit computers going back to the 400/800. Because of this, couldn't it be stated that items using this peripheral port for these systems could technically make them accessories for the XEGS? Just wondering.

That's a good question, as even the disk drives work with it from what I understand, which make it not only legacy, but fully supported since the XEGS is indeed related to the 8-bit computer line, specifically perhaps the Atari 65XE (which is a descendant of the 400/800).

Yeah, and don't forget that the joystick ports on the system are also the same as not only the rest of the Atari 8-Bit line, but also even the 2600, which opens up the question of whether or not the controllers for the other Atari computers could be classified as controllers for the XEGS.

Agreed, because the part number for the joystick for the XEGS and 2600 both are actually CX40. They aren't just compatible, they are by part number, the same thing (with a different color plastic). I see no reason why they can't be at this point. Same lineage, same part numbers, same accessories.

We are STILL getting emails from the email leak.

*Sigh*  Well Don, while you have excluded Consolevariations.com from the Wayback Machine on Archive.org, the damage is done.  You promised to reach out to everyone affected, and as *I* found out, you had not reached out to everyone.

I want a remedy to this issue ASAP.  Who is/was the web designer responsible for such an egregious leak, without saying how it happened as you know I had discovered precisely how this leak happened, and why it is as egregious as I state it was?  I think it's time I talk to an attorney moving forward.  If it was NOT you, it's in your best interest to be fully transparent.

  • Honestly looks like a custom paint job, nothing official. Improper use of masking tape is clearly visible around the power button, and edges elsewhere due to paint leakage.

    Nintendo DS lite "Altium"

    Hello everyone,

I recently bought this DS, and I'am courious if anyone have seen this Version before, since I did not found any hints about it online.

The blue logo is professionally printed using the pad printing process.

Only found out, that Altium is an australian software company, design printed circuit boards, and Nintendo is using their software.

    Thanks 🙂✌️

As you pointed out, Nintendo uses them for PCB design, in fact Nintendo uses Altium, Orcad, and Allegro for this. I wonder if this was a gift to Altium perhaps. While the serial is a little strange without a barcode, I have seen DS Lite's without a barcode and similar prefixes before.

If I had to really guess, I'm going with a gift to Altium from Nintendo that simply over time, made it on the streets.

    Update:

I contacted the seller and asked for information of the origin of the DS. I was tolded, that it was raffled by altium on a trade fair back in the days.

    👍 1

Thanks for the update! Quite an interesting history then.

Videos of people restoring consoles are pretty relaxing to watch

I stumbled upon this the Odd Tinkering Youtube channel recently, and I have to say, it's pretty satisfying to watch old consoles being restored to their former glory. Anyone else enjoy videos like these?

That one of the only accurate channel about restaurations, you should check Tysytube too. Others are mostly fake or the guy just throw everything and build a console with aliexpress parts sadly.

Spectrum90 Yea the moment the ramen comes out to fix a hole, that's when I stop watching.

These do appear to be legit repairs, which is great to see. Should be a list of fake repair channels (though I assume one is already online, not just from our hobby but from other hobby's as well).

ANYONE heard of this? Suppose to be an early snes dev kit... with matching accessories!

SNES dev kit + mouse + keyboard with snes connection
SNES dev kit + mouse + keyboard with snes connection

Gonna cross post from the Discord here on my observations and findings thus far, but so far I can't ID this unit. The mouse in the picture has a scroll wheel which didn't come out until the mid 90's, however one now deleted X post, of which Google partially has cache of, that was in Japanese, translated into English says "Does anyone remember what the mysterious Super Nintendo equipment used at the Yume Matsuri venue was doing?"

It had hash tags for the following: Hudson, Caravan, Yume Matsuri

So, it very well might be from the mid 90's perhaps, so not "early", if anything just before the N64 launched.

I'm still trying to track down the logo on the front though, I know I've seen that logo once before.

Found the only information I could find on it: https://luigiblood.neocities.org/gameprocessor

  • There's a couple brands that haven't been added to the page yet. Another would be Tiger, since they made the Tiger LCD handhelds, the Tiger R-Zone, Tiger Game.com and Tiger Gizmondo. There's also no Samsung Nuon, no Nokia N-Gage, no Philips CD-i, no Pioneer LaserActive, any Commodore/Amiga hardware (such as the Commodore 64 Games System, Commodore CDTV, or the Amiga CD32), Game Wave, Zeebo, Steam Deck, and even consoles from companies they already have listed, like the Bandi Super Vision 8000.

Edit: Correction, the Philips CD-i is on consolevariations, it's just under the Magnavox branding. I was unaware that Philips also made the Magnavox brand.

@KoolAid3 JFK, Blown away. What else do I have to say
