A question about what qualifies as an Atari XEGS accessory

So essentially, the back of the Atari XEGS Console  features a peripheral port, which is notable because of the fact that it is basically the same port for all of the Atari 8-bit computers going back to the 400/800. Because of this, couldn't it be stated that items using this peripheral port for these systems could technically make them accessories for the XEGS? Just wondering.

That's a good question, as even the disk drives work with it from what I understand, which make it not only legacy, but fully supported since the XEGS is indeed related to the 8-bit computer line, specifically perhaps the Atari 65XE (which is a descendant of the 400/800).

Yeah, and don't forget that the joystick ports on the system are also the same as not only the rest of the Atari 8-Bit line, but also even the 2600, which opens up the question of whether or not the controllers for the other Atari computers could be classified as controllers for the XEGS.
