First Retail PreProduction model for PCH-20xx. (came with NOT FOR SALE sticker on the back)

Since there are specific model name suffixes for every single color and Validation Stage it would be overkill to add them all, so we'd rather explain them here under this main submission for the Model family.

Generally one can identify them like so: "CPV-2000 XYZ" (with X = Color, Y = Stage, Z = Revision)

[White = W, Pink = P, Khaki = K, ...] & [PVT = P, DVT = D, EVT = E]

But of course there are exceptions. Sometimes the Color Indicator is missing (mostly for black and later white models) and the syntax changed. Its like at this point in Vita's Development cycle Sony's Prototyping department went freestyle!!

Thus a better approach for identifying CPVs is to look at the serial and model code:

 03 - TG A B CC D H - 7 6 5 4 3 2 1

  • with A indicating the installed Firmware
  • with B indicating the Validation Stage
  • with C (two digits) indicating the Color
  • and D with indicating the Target Region
  • with 7 the Revision
  • with 4 the Color

We hope this will be helpful to someone.
