- Chinese PS2 are the only regionalization of PS2 with dedicated hardware (more specifically: an extra ROM memory to hold the Chinese font and some extra data)
- Some of these units never reached the public, Sony kept them on the factories for testing the consequences of the Mechacon replacement they performed for the 50k series. Therefore, some of them may retain special modifications on EEPROM.
