I have one of this. And I also have asked to Gradiente Marketing Director that was responsible for the GBP in Brazil. He told me the following: - It was produced less than 100 of this one; - It was officialy allowed by Nintendo (Gradiente was the Nintendo’s representative in Brazil at the time - 1996/97); - According to him, It wasn’t a gift to employees. It was part of a press kit produced to comuniccate the console launching in Brazil
