- This controller was seen at the 1995 Shoshinkai Event hooked up to the demo stations featuring Super Mario 64 and Kirby Bowl.
- This controller is commonly identified by its larger joystick and square shaped gate.
- Different colours of this controller were also shown off in the Shoshinkai event. The L and R buttons were the same colour as the rest of the controller, same with the black plug end that goes into the console; that was the same colour as the rest of the controller too.
- This controller was used in magazine advertisements, B-Roll footage for the console, and a varient is seen on the back of the retail controller's box and on the side of the console box.
