- ction RPG Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was one of the first truly next-gen console releases in 2020. The twelfth major instalment in the Assassin’s Creed series, Valhalla was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft.
- To celebrate the release of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft – in partnership with Microsoft – commissioned us to create custom Xbox controller designs that would be worthy of the game’s Viking raiders.
- Sharpening our tools, ready for battle, A design team created two custom concepts for the controllers; a light and dark design, both featuring strong Viking aesthetics. The first controller was created with a pale wood effect finish, complete with blue stripe down its middle. Complementing the wood effect were various Viking runes overlaying the controller, with Assassin’s Creed logo prominent in the centre.
- The second controller was darker, with the overlay created to resemble stonework, finished with a deep blue design. This controller also featured rune markings on the overlay, though designed so they looked like they had been carved into the controller with a sharp instrument. Again, the Assassin’s Creed logo is featured in the middle of the controller.
